Which One Should You Make?
- First amigurumi ever? Start with #5. The super bulky yarn is fast and forgiving.

- Making a gift for a kid? Go with #1 or #6. They are sturdy, classic and very huggable.
- Love the mushroom trend? Try #11 or #13 for a frog with a toadstool hat.
- Ready for a bigger project? Pick #2 for a tall frog with movable arms and legs.
FAQ
What yarn is best for a crochet frog?
Cotton gives clear, crisp stitches and is easy to see while you work. Acrylic is soft, cheap and comes in lots of greens. Chenille or velvet yarn makes the softest, squishiest frogs, but the stitches are harder to see, so it is better once you have made a few amigurumi.
Are crochet frogs safe for babies?
For babies and toddlers, skip safety eyes and embroider the eyes with yarn instead. Sew all parts on very firmly and check them often. Avoid wire, like in the tree frog, for any toy that will go to a small child.
How long does it take to crochet a frog?
A tiny or super bulky frog can take one to two hours. A medium frog like Felix or Felicity usually takes an evening or two. Large jointed frogs, like Fidget, can take a full weekend because of the many separate parts.
Pick a green, grab your hook, and you will have a new little frog friend sitting on your desk before you know it.
