FAQ
How do you crochet dinosaur spikes?
Most spikes are small cones or triangles worked in rows or rounds, then sewn along the back. Some patterns, like #6, work the spikes right into the body so there is no sewing. Stuff spikes lightly or not at all so they stay pointy and do not flop.
What yarn is best for a crochet dinosaur?
Worsted acrylic is easy, cheap and comes in every color. Cotton gives crisp details for small dinos. For a soft, cuddly dino, chenille or velvet yarn like in #4 and #6 is lovely, but the stitches are harder to see, so it is better once you know the basics.
How long does it take to crochet a dinosaur?
A small dino like #2 in cotton can take a couple of hours. A mid-size worsted dino takes about one to three evenings. Large or detailed ones like #3 and #4 can take a weekend or more, mostly because of the extra parts like legs, plates and horns.
Pick a dino, grab your favorite green yarn and have a roaring good time.
